Geoffry Lilge 

Geoffrey Lilge is a designer with a practice centered on self-production and collaboration. He was a founding partner of Pure Design, a Canadian furniture manufacturing company from 1993 until 2004. As Design Director, he collaborated with many innovative designers to develop a collection that was exhibited and distributed globally.  Pure Design was awarded the ICFF Editors Award for Furniture in and is listed in the MoMA Design Encyclopedia. His work has received awards from Accent on Design (NYC) and has been published in The New York Times, Wallpaper*, Azure, Monocle, Abitare, Intramuros and has been featured in the books Design in Canada (Knopf, 2001),Desire (Gestalten, 2008) and 1000 Product Designs, (Rockport, 2010). 

Geoff currently distributes his collection of locally made kitchen tools  throughout North America.

On Design

This talk is the third of a series called On Design which is presented by the University of Alberta Student Design Association. The goal of the talks is to give Edmonton's student (and professional) designers an opportunity to hear perspectives from people working in the creative field. On Design is not about getting famous designers to present, but to find designers who have carved a niche for themselves and have seen success as a result. Another goal is to get designers of all kinds sitting in a room in Edmonton and build some community!

Due to the small size of Dewey's space is very limited. As a result, we are using Eventbrite for people to secure tickets. Our hope is some will be available at the door, but don't count on it. Also, we ask that if you get tickets and cannot make the talk, please email web@thesda.ca and let us know so we can re-release the tickets.
